Wonderful dine-in cafe in a cozy spot in Oxnard. If the clean dining area and classic rock atmosphere doesn't already pull you in, then the friendly and welcoming staff certainly will. I dined with two other people, and our server Joanne was very attentive and courteous to all of us, even striking up conversation when the diner wasn't busy. I'm newly moved to California, so her insight into the area was very welcome, especially the tips about swimming spots.

Ah, but what's a diner without the main course? I ordered an AM Burger, a hearty (yet not too large) slab of hamburger topped with fried homestyle hashbrowns, juicy strips of bacon, and a succulent fried egg all sandwiched between a buttery brioche bun. It was absolutely delicious, and barely left any room for the potatoes O'brien I asked for as the side, which was also very tasty. Everything was cooked to my specification, and while it was too hot to eat upon receiving my plate, I would hardly say that's a bad thing.

If you're after a nice slice of homestyle cooking in the middle of the city, then DW's Country Cafe is definitely on the top of my recommendations list.

    Great food, real.
    Service was classic and fast.
Staff was moving quick and attentive. Lots of space between tables, feels open and not cramped.
Chill verde was awesome.  Gravy on biscuit is great too.
Plenty of room to park an RV or team bus in the lot, lots of lights and safe. Close to on-ramp too.

Wow!  How have I missed this place all these years?  I just happened to be driving by and it was brunch time for me.  I  stopped out front and checked the yelp reviews and they were just ok.  I thought, what the heck...

WOW! again.  I was served by Joanne and not having ever been here before I relied completely on her recommendations.  I had the chili verde omelet.  EASILY THE BEST IVE HAD IN YEARS and this isn't even a Mexican restaurant.  The pork was tender and cooked perfectly.  The sauce was absolutely amazing (mom's recipe I'm told).  Just the right amount of heat on the backend with a big bold flavor that makes you want to start speaking Spanish.  I had the O'Brien potato's and they were done very well.  Portion size was perfect enough for Goldie Locks, just right.

Joanne could not have been sweeter or more attentive.  I was introduced to the owner Alexia and she was very sweet as well.  It's my understanding that her husband Rigo is the chef and let me tell you Rigo is doing a bang up job back there.

The location off Johnson suffers a bit due to it being new to them and the road construction out front, but there is ample parking so don't let that scare you away.  The inside is bright and welcoming with an open friendly down to earth feel.

I'm always hesitant to post reviews of these great finds for fear of them getting overrun, but this place is too good not to share.

I'll be back soon to share this little gem with friends and family.

I had high expectations for this local spot but it was awful. I've gone 2 separate visits and different times of day and the food was terrible. The scrambled eggs are certainly not fresh cracked and have the consistency of rubbery feta cauliflower. The pancakes were nearly impossible to cut with a knife and the butter it was served with - never melted.
I'll have a McDonalds breakfast - twice the amount of food and half the price.
